On Being a Girl in a Band
Why do I take such offense in bands who have a lead singer who doesn’t play an instrument? And why is that offense so much greater when the lead singer is female, and the only girl in the band? Is that ingrained sexism? Or is it the perpetuation of the way-too-played out stereotype, that the only thing a girl is good for in a band is singing and being a sex symbol? Is this my own frustration...
